Commissioning

        Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. I want to honor those who gave their lives through selfless service and sacrifice. I work with military personal and am aware of their sacrifice especially for their families. They inspire me to live a life of sacrifice. I still remember U.S. Navy Blue Angel’s number 6, Capt Jeff Kuss (look up his story). Every time I see them fly especially number 6 I see hope. Hope soars on wings like eagles. I am thankful for all who serve in the military and others who put themselves in harm’s way for the greater good. Jesus says it is nothing better to lay down your life for your friend.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NLT

        On the 23rd of May my brother completed his long haul through the United States Air Force Academy. His long hours of studying and work ethic paid off for him to become a 2nd Lt in the Air Force. As I am sitting there listening to his commissioning the night before. I kept thinking how many people desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves and suit up for battle (for more read Ephesians 6)..            Most will not say it but everyone has a deep desire to serve. We all yearn to be a part of team to fight for a mission that brings hope and inspires others. This is how we are wired to the core of our being and called to live a life of sacrifice. My brother gave an oath at his commissioning to uphold and protect our freedom. As Christians, we give that same oath when we give our lives to Christ. Our very own commissioning to the great commission. We turn from our old lives to a new life of sacrifice and strive for the great commission that us Jesus calls us.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭MSG‬‬

        We are given a purpose immediately when we transition from our old lives as unbelievers to our new lives as believers. We have a duty to uphold and a purpose, but particularly in how we live. Our purpose is to be selfless, sacrificial, giving, truthful, and a protector for good. God is a protector, a fighter, and a provider. We are made in His image, so we are to reflect His very character.            Once you learn to live for Christ and uphold the moral excellence under His guidance. Then people will begin to ask and wonder how you became who you are. That’s when you tell them. Understand this, God is a gentleman. He never forces Himself onto others. I was guilty of this as an early Christian. Trying to force Jesus on people then I realized that Jesus never forced Himself upon me. Our lives reflect His image of kindness, gentleness, and truth. With the power and advocate of the Holy Spirit. We can be bold and bring Glory to God by leading others to Christ. Our mission is the commission, but first we must live and embrace the love we will proclaim. Strive to be love then share the love within you, but we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us. We need to have courage in the moments of temporary fear. Fear will get in your ear and try to take you out. All fear does is paralyze you.

Fear of the world paralyzes you while Fear of the Lord mobilizes you

        Let the Lord guide you and trust He has your best interest in mind. You’re not alone when you proclaim His name. My brother took on his officer commissioning, but he too will uphold the mission God has put on his life. Every day we have a purpose, a mission, and an opportunity to create an impact in others. Our mission is revealed when we take on the commission from Christ and have our own commissioning into the family of God. For those who do not know Christ. Refer to our belief page to read on who you are meant to be. Today, become a living sacrifice for others. A living inspiration for everyone in how you live and act. Pursue a life a purpose. We all have a purpose and that purpose is made clear with a life with Christ.

Prayer for Courage in the Moment: Dear Lord, I want to thank you for your power and might. I humble myself under your mighty power. I submit to the Holy Spirit. I am worried what people might say or think, but I know lives are at stake. I need you to get me through. I pray for courage right in this moment to speak truth and be the truth you called me to be. Lord, please lead me and guide me to whom I need to speak. It is no longer I who live, so I will live in this earthly body trusting you. I trust you will get me through. God give me the courage to speak about your name. You are all I need. Amen Shorten Prayer for Courage in the Moment: Lord, give me courage to say what needs to be said right now.
